• Who is an animator - types of animators and the essence of their work. Who are animators, or modern mass entertainers What does an animator mean

At present, the term "Animators" has firmly secured two meanings.

    1. Animator - an artist who creates cartoons (animator).
    2. An animator is an artist who entertains guests.

The word comes from the Latin "anima" - life, soul; "animatio" - animation; "animator" - giving life.

    1. Animators are artists.

Even 15 years ago, in our minds, the term "animator" was absolutely clearly associated exclusively as a profession - an animator (animator). That is why the main authoritative dictionaries: the Big Encyclopedic Dictionary, Ozhegov's Explanatory Dictionary, and all of them were created many years ago, give us only this, as the only meaning of this word.

The word advantage was used in highly specialized professional circles, and rarely in the everyday life of most citizens. However, its meaning was well known, thanks to the colorful and often lengthy credits at the beginning or end of cartoons. Surely, many will remember how in the old days, Soyuzmultfilm was especially famous for this, we read in the credits for a long time who drew the cartoon, who voiced each character, and so on.

It is worth noting that both then and now, we have a too superficial understanding of this profession. To be more precise, it is the animator's responsibility to create drawings and key phases of the cartoon character's movement. Animators do not include storyboarders, artists who directly create the images of the characters themselves, and those who draw the backgrounds. And yet in English-speaking countries, including Russia, animators are called animators.

    2. Animators as a profession to entertain guests.

The roots of this profession can be attributed to very distant times. Namely, to the 15-17 centuries. At this time, the heyday of the activity of buffoons falls. Buffoons - itinerant actors: singers, wits, musicians, performers of scenes, acrobats. They performed on the streets and squares, communicated with the audience and involved them in the performance.

In the days of the USSR, there was also a certain analogue of "animators" - this profession was called "Massovik-Zateynik". The duties of the mass-entertainers included the organization of cultural and entertainment events in places of mass recreation of citizens.

And finally, in 1999, "Tourist terminological dictionary”, authors: I.V. Zorin and V.A. Kvartalnov, gives us a new, second meaning of the word “animator”.
An animator is a specialist in the formation of a tourist product and an organizer of recreational activities for tourists.

In tourism, animation began to develop around the 1970s. First in countries such as the UAE and Egypt, after some time in Turkey. Now animation is an essential service for guests of almost any large hotel and even a sanatorium or boarding house.

However, this meaning of "animators" should be divided into two more, namely:
    1. Hotel animators
    2. Animators of children's holidays.

The thing is that hotel animators are, first of all, a team that organizes entertainment and sports leisure for vacationers.

Animators for children's parties work exclusively in images: clowns and fairy-tale characters. These are actors, only they do not work on the stage, but in direct contact with children, spend game program, show small shows with balls, soap bubbles, hold creative master classes and more. Professional children's animators, every time they come to unfamiliar children, different ages, different characters. In addition to high-class costumes and a suitcase of games, their main quality is the ability to instantly find an approach to each child and interest everyone without exception. To do this, they also study the basics of child psychology and age characteristics. And to create truly interesting programs for children's holidays, not one animator works, but a whole team of specialists in different areas.

The profession of "animator" appeared not so long ago, but we hear this word all the time - in connection with children's birthdays, vacations, and so on. When choosing a hotel for a vacation trip with kids, parents will always ask if there will be animators there.

What kind of profession is this, and who is this animator - a nanny, toastmaster, an actor or someone who combines several talents at once?

    We understand.

Who is an animator - types of animators and the essence of their work

The term "animator" came to us from in English, where this word means an artist playing various characters at various events.

In our country, animation, as a direction, is still only gaining popularity and followers in its orderly ranks.

Animators are actors who must "be able to do everything." Their main task is to entertain the audience in the roles assigned to them at a particular event.

Animators can be "classified" as follows:

    • Corporate animators. These specialists help the main presenter at the corporate party to amuse the audience at competitions and games. However, animators often work without a leader, including his duties in the list of their own and doing an excellent job with any task.
    • Children's animator for kids . Specialists who have to entertain babies up to 4 years old should be professionals in their field, because kids are afraid not only of clowns, but also of strangers in general. In addition, children quickly get tired and are not able to be too mobile and agile.
    • Children's animator for older kids (from 5 to 10 years old). It is already easier for this specialist to charm and amuse, because the audience is easy-going. Children already have their favorite characters with whom they enjoy playing, making crafts, participating in quizzes, and so on. Most often, animators for children of this age also have to master the art of twisting and face painting, arrange a show of soap bubbles, etc.
    • Animator for teenagers. He, too, is having a hard time. Teenagers are a critical audience, and it is extremely difficult to entertain them in our time, when children already have time to see and try almost everything by the age of 15. Therefore, a teenage animator should be able to talk to children in the same language as them.
    • Youth animator. Today, the tasks of such a specialist most often include quests - that is, the choice of a scenario, the complexity of tasks, and so on. Naturally, the animator in this case is the “one on the board” guy.
    • Animator-promoter. This specialist should create a mood among the participants of the event already at the entrance. This specialist advises / informs guests, points out the right directions, takes pictures with guests, distributes information booklets, and so on.
    • Animators in hotels. Not a single 5 * hotel is complete without animators. Moreover, there are animators in a good hotel for kids, and for older children, and for the adults themselves, who, oddly enough, also need to be entertained.

There are also specialized animators. For example, those who specialize only in soap bubble shows or twisting, science shows or magic tricks, master classes or theatrical performances with clowns, and so on.

Summarizing, we can say that animators today are yesterday's "mass entertainers" who should give smiles and a good mood.

    Job benefits:

    1. Creative and interesting work.
    2. The possibility of combining with the main work.
    3. Opportunity to work abroad (for example, Turkish hotels often require Russian-speaking animators). That is, you can relax and work.
    4. Acquaintance with different people, including "useful".
    5. Free schedule.

    Of the shortcomings:

    • Income instability. Salary always depends on the availability of orders.
    • Sometimes you have to work for 10 hours - and on your feet.
    • Nervous tension. The more serious and solid the company that needs to be entertained, the higher the responsibility that falls on the shoulders of the animator.
    • Emotional burnout. The animator must be cheerful, active and easy-going. Otherwise, he simply will not stay in the profession. And no one is interested in whether the animator has problems in his personal life, and whether he feels well. The animator must amuse the audience - period. Of course, not everyone survives.

Basic requirements for an animator in work - duties of an animator

First of all, the animator must...

    1. Be a good actor.
    2. Be a good psychologist.
    3. Know how to charm from the first exit.

    6. Be able to quickly transform into various characters and apply makeup.
    7. To be able to "stir up" even the most passive kids and adults.
    8. Know how to get out of difficult situations.

A few years ago, no one knew who animators were, and when the word “animation” came to mind, animation or something related to it most often came to mind. Today the situation is different: many people spend their holidays abroad, stay in good hotels and enjoy all the variety of services offered.

Animation is one of them. The word "animation" is of Latin origin and in translation means inspiration, stimulation of vitality, involvement in activity. This word has passed into the tourist environment and acquired a new meaning. Today, an employee of the animation team - an animator - is a person who organizes the leisure of guests, plans and implements entertainment events, sports games, works with children ...

Who among us did not dream of adventure in childhood? Go on a journey with fearless pirates? Or learn the secrets of magic spells and meet a real wizard? Experienced animators help make childhood dreams come true. Pirates and wizards, Pippi and Carlson, the girl Polinka and the raspberry, buffoons and clowns are waiting for you. We select a program according to your holiday.

The animator entertains, captivates, will make any children's (and not only!) holiday incendiary and interesting. Our parents, grandparents know the animator under the name "Massovik-entertainer". A separate branch of the animator is the "master of ceremonies"; he is only engaged in entertaining guests at weddings.

    History of the profession

The profession called animator did not arise today. It would seem that the word is familiar. In our native Soviet past, the word "animator" sounded clear: somewhere by the end of the 70s. animators began to be called animators. In other words, an animator is a person who brings drawings to life. But as they say, since then a lot of water has flowed under the bridge and a whole range of people have appeared who call themselves animators. On the other hand, the word mass-entertainer has been known to people since ancient times.

In fact, animators are artists who play some characters at the holidays.

Where does this choice come from?

The animator tells: This summer I was at sea. In our hotel (as in many others) there was a special children's club "miniclub", in which children's animators organize an interesting, complete vacation for children, conducting outdoor and educational games with children, organizing competitions, learning children's dances, doing drawing with them, etc. I was so interested that I constantly actively participated in all events. I was even allowed to help organize competitions. I was already familiar with it. In our school, in the children's circle, we also organized holidays and entertainment for students elementary school. Maybe I will not connect my life with this profession in the future, but the skills of communicating with different categories of people will be useful in any profession. Entertainment with a group of friends will never be superfluous either.

    Professional qualities of an animator

    • Offer the team games, entertainment and competitions
    • Cause good, joyful laughter
    • They will allow you to run, play and play pranks for your pleasure
    • They organize non-stop fun to stir up the guests, not to let them get bored.
    • They will breathe a spark of life even into a boring ordinary feast.

    Skills:

    • Offer the team games, entertainment and competitions
    • organize fun
    • Make a holiday program, games, entertainment
    • Work with different age groups take into account the various interests of the public.
    • communication skills, stress tolerance
    • Work in a team.
    • Compiling your own programs
    • Create the necessary props.
    • Put a smile, a joke, a soul into every word
    • know how to dance

    Knowledge:

    • Having creative ideas
    • Knowledge of the psychological characteristics of the individual
    • Knowledge of games, competitions
    • Know foreign languages
    • Technology for performing sports and dance elements.

    Disadvantages of the profession:

It seems that there are only young people around, funny contests and jokes during the day, festivities and the opportunity to make new acquaintances at night. And you get paid for it, and not bad! Just heaven on earth - you decide. And you will be absolutely wrong. For all its outward relaxation, an animator is a serious job. The animator's work schedule is scheduled literally by the minute, and gradually the daily holidays turn into a boring routine. But that is not all. Animator - has no right to look tired or dissatisfied, to be silent next to the guests and leave them to entertain themselves. He can't be in a bad mood. For sullenness or sluggishness, the animator can be fired, at least if such behavior is repeated. Such strict rules are explained by the fact that animators often take an irresponsible approach to work, and can suddenly quit everything, guided by some personal reasons.

    Ten taboo animators:

    • Animators are prohibited from discussing politics, religion with guests.
    • Animators are not allowed to disrespect the nationality of the client.
    • Animators are not allowed to use foul language.
    • Animators are not allowed to wear sunglasses during work.
    • Animators are not allowed to discuss personal problems with vacationers
    • Animators are not allowed to use drugs.
    • Animators are not allowed to use mobile phone during work.
    • Animators are not allowed to devote much time to one of the guests.
    • Animators are not allowed to damage property
    • Animators are prohibited from misleading customers about any information.

The degree of demand for animators in the labor market:

The average freelance animator earns 600-1000 rubles per day. With a sufficiently large workload, it is difficult to earn more than 20 thousand per month. Therefore, among the free animators there are many students who, over time, either earn a name with their own number, or leave the sphere of holidays for more serious work.
