There are several folk beliefs associated with this issue:

    1. Do not wash floors in the evening and at night - this is an old superstition that is associated with belief in sorcerers and evil spirits, who supposedly have superhuman strength at night.

    1. Some people still believe that cleaning and taking out the trash at night is tantamount to sweeping happiness and profit out of the house.
    2. More motivated is the following fact: earlier in the huts they washed the floors with plenty of water. At the same time, the stove was not heated at night, that is, heated during the day, it cooled down at night. Therefore, if the floors were washed at night, then in the morning the house was cold and damp, which was especially unacceptable in the cold Russian winters.

    Modern causes

In addition to primordially Russian beliefs, to the question: “is it possible to wash the floors in the evening?” there are more modern answers.

Let's look at some of them:

    1. The instructions for using most say that after a thorough cleaning of the house, it is advisable to ventilate the room for some time. When cleaning takes place late in the evening and at night, there is most often no question of any ventilation.

Most household chemicals, although they are not toxic, do not promise anything beneficial to health, therefore it is advisable to protect yourself as much as possible from inhaling their fumes. By cleaning your flooring at night, you are exposing yourself and your family to inhaling harmful fumes from chemicals.

    1. Another problem with such cleaning is dampness. Therefore, it is desirable to carry out wet cleaning of premises with open windows. Otherwise, it may be cold and damp in your house in the morning, as our ancestors spoke about.
    2. If in your house, then late cleaning is undesirable due to the noise made by the vacuum cleaner, which will certainly cause resentment of the neighbors.

These days, there are different floor coverings, each of which has its own characteristics in terms of washing.

Therefore, it is necessary to consider the features of caring for coatings, depending on their type:

    1. Wooden bases:
    • Painted wooden floors are washed with water and vinegar or ammonia (1 tablespoon per liter of water).

Advice! After drying, it is advisable to apply linseed oil to the base, which is one of the best wood care products.

Grease stains from painted floors are removed with soapy water, which should be left for a day, and then washed with hot water.

    • Unpainted wooden floors are washed with a solution of alkali or soap. The floor is covered with this solution, and then rubbed with a stiff brush. It is advisable to add a tablespoon of turpentine to the water.

Grease stains from unpainted wood are removed with a solution of vinegar and sulfuric clay, which should be left on the base overnight, and washed off with warm water in the morning.

    1. Linoleum is usually wiped with a damp cloth.. It is advisable to wash it every week with warm soapy water.

Advice! In no case should you use turpentine, alcohol, ammonia or gasoline, since this material is erased.

    1. Tiled floor cleaning.

Such floors are perfectly washed with a solution of washing powder, after which they are washed with clean warm water. If there are particularly dirty places, they should be treated with a paste or powder intended for cleaning sinks and bathtubs.

    1. Parquet floors. Unvarnished coatings should be washed no more than once or twice a year. They are wiped with a damp cloth, which is wetted in cold water with the addition of glycerin (1 tablespoon per 1 glass of water). In the event that the parquet is varnished, it should be cleaned in the same way, but the frequency of this process can be significantly increased.
    1. Synthetic tiles. Synthetic coatings can be cleaned periodically with a damp cloth. In case of severe contamination, they are washed first with a soapy solution, and then washed off with clean water and wiped dry.

In that case, the individual elements of such a coating are swollen, they can easily be returned to their place. To do this, it is necessary to clean the floor of dirt, after which the tile is put in place and covered with a clean piece of paper. Now it should be ironed with a very hot iron. First iron quickly, then more slowly - as a result, the tile will straighten and “weld” to the base.
