• Is it worth buying samsung galaxy s 8. Is it worth buying a smartphone Samsung Galaxy S8: editor's test. Graphics adapter: Galaxy A8 gaming experience

Samsung has released a top model of the budget class samsung galaxy J7 Plus 2017. The J prefix belongs to this class. The device was released in September 2017 and is a simplified flagship model that can be purchased with all the bells and whistles for about 21 thousand rubles. Acquainted with detailed specifications possible in this review.

In appearance, the features inherent in all smartphones from Samsung are immediately recognizable. All buttons are very conveniently and habitually located, and will not cause difficulty in use. Above the screen, as usual, sensors, a front camera and a speaker took their place. Below the screen is an oval button with a home function and a built-in fingerprint scanner.

The device fits perfectly in the hand, does not slip. Its rounded edges and corners do not cause discomfort. A neat and solid appearance is fully consistent with the flagship class. The build quality is generally impossible to find fault with. Everything is made at the highest level.

    Display

The screen with SuperAmoled matrix is of high quality. Its 5.5-inch diagonal allows you to comfortably view photos, videos, play games and much more. At the same time, the bezels around the display are thin and almost invisible. Everything is in order with the color reproduction, the color shades are as close to natural as possible.

Thanks to advanced settings, each user will be able to adjust the brightness, sharpness and color gamut for themselves. There are several color profiles, with neutral being the most commonly used.

Among the advantages, one can single out automatic backlight adjustment due to the built-in sensor. This will allow you not to adjust the brightness level every time.

Some information is displayed on the screen even in standby mode when the smartphone is not in use. The feature is quite useful. Here you can see the time, notifications, battery level.

Such an interesting solution replaced the usual flashing sensor. By the way, all these notifications do not consume battery power, which is an undeniable plus.

    Specifications Samsung Galaxy J7 Plus

If we compare the Samsung Galaxy J7 Plus with flagship models from another class, then the filling here is much more modest, but in terms of performance it is quite good. Here, an Exynos 7870 is installed as a chipset, and 3 GB of RAM is responsible for multitasking. Its permanent memory in the smartphone is only 16 GB. You can expand the space with a flash drive, and for it there is a separate connector that is not combined with a second SIM card.

Not the best performance for a modern gadget on the technical side. For those who do not care to choose devices from other manufacturers, for this amount you can find a more powerful "Chinese".

The filling can hardly cope with the launch of resource-intensive games, such as tanks and others. This smartphone is more suitable for solving simple everyday tasks, networking, watching videos, making calls, you can run simple toys and applications.

The advantage of the J7 Plus is the presence of features such as Samsung Pay and built-in NFC module, which you will not find in all models from this price category.

    cameras

Despite the low cost, the Samsung Galaxy J7 2017 cameras are of excellent quality.

In the daytime and in good light, the main 13-megapixel module shoots without any complaints. Disadvantages may occur in the dark. There is immediately a lack of stabilization and increased noise.

The front camera shoots very well. Its module is also 13 MP. Perfect for taking selfies and video chatting.

    autonomy

The Korean smartphone has no problems with autonomy. The 3600 mAh battery lasts two days without recharging in normal use. If you run games at the same time, it will last one day.

When watching a video, the charge will last as much as 16 hours! Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy J7 2017 did not receive fast charging, although many smartphones in this price segment already have this innovation.

    Advantages

    • Separate memory card slot
    • High quality cameras
    • Stylish design and aluminum body
    • NFC module
    • Fast fingerprint scanner
    • Excellent autonomy

    Flaws

    • Not the best processor
    • Outdated shell.

Smartphone today is an indispensable gadget of any modern man who wants to keep up with the times, regularly be in touch with society, respond quickly to any news and events. This small device allows you to spend your free and working time more productively, interestingly and richly. Music, movies and videos, correspondence with interesting personalities, reading books and online magazines, the use of office software is only a small part of the opportunities that each person has on his smartphone. That is why the choice of a new device is such an important and responsible task for us, which should be approached with attention and accuracy.

The market offers a lot of interesting smartphones for every taste, both the simplest inexpensive devices for novice users, and serious devices stuffed with advanced technologies and features. It is enough to visit any online gadget store, as this site will provide us with a huge selection of interesting devices of various price ranges. Many manufacturers are trying to make their way to a wide range of consumers, but so far not everyone has succeeded. A serious brand that has completed this task is Samsung, whose smartphone will be discussed.

Samsung products are masterpieces for many years

Samsung has been delighting customers with excellent smartphones for almost a decade, which always, at all times, incorporate the best trends in the mobile market. Suffice it to recall even the first devices of the Galaxy line, which were constantly on the lips of gadget lovers and were in eternal competition for absolute leadership with iPhones from Apple. Since then, people have become accustomed to the idea that Samsung is a quality that deserves respect.

Years have passed, but the situation around the legendary Galaxy line has not changed at all. These are all the same cult flagships, each release of which is of great interest to the general public. The company's new smartphones never cease to amaze with their innovations, progressive functionality and capabilities. This fully applies to the Galaxy S8, which was released recently.

    Samsung Galaxy S8 features

This device was released quite recently - in 2017. To say that he made a splash is to say nothing. The device turned out to be completely original and recognizable, it did not follow industry trends, but was completely individual and unsurpassed in its own way. Subsequent flagship models, in particular the 9th version of the Geleksi, left all the main features that the 8th version received.

What are the features of the device? Strengths He has many and here are some of them:

    • Absolutely remarkable design which is executed in the attractive glass case. The device is completely original and recognizable, it is simply impossible to confuse it with something else;
    • A chic display that occupies almost the entire front panel of the device and is of incredible quality. Deep saturated colors and contrast, a lot of shades, a pleasant soft appearance - all this captivates the buyer from the first seconds of getting to know the device.
    • A powerful stuffing that can easily "pull" any software, games and playing large video files.

Is it worth buying a device in 2018? If you want to get a full-fledged flagship device for a reasonable price, it's definitely worth it. Even the new Galaxy 9 hasn't received many innovations compared to the 8, so if you buy the Samsung Galaxy S8, you won't lose anything at all.

By appearance and style, the device will give odds to any other representatives of flagships, including the iPhone 10, which is not very successful in this regard, in terms of filling and hardware capabilities, the smartphone is among the most productive solutions, in terms of interface quality and upgrade options it will also be a very reasonable choice. If you want to become the owner of the device, then it is enough to find any suitable inexpensive store, for example, Big Mag, and purchase it there. You can be sure that this will be the right decision.

On April 26, sales of the flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S4 started in Ulan-Ude. I received one a little earlier and after spending a few days with it, I can confirm that this is indeed an impressive phone on Android based

This does not mean that the Galaxy S4, for all its innovation and advanced technology, is perfect. No. This model has its flaws that prevent it from being the best smartphone.

    Ba! All familiar faces!

At first glance, the Galaxy S4 looks similar to its predecessors, the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note2. The same rounded corners, home button, and plastic construction, but overall, the Galaxy S4 is more refined and pleasant to the touch. The new phone's buttons look stronger and the plastic parts are made from higher quality material.

7.9 millimeters - this is the thickness this device, unlike the S3 with its 8.6 mm, the difference is not really significant, and I did not notice any differences in weight either. However, the Galaxy S3 felt more comfortable due to its heavily rounded edges.

In addition to the fact that the screen has become larger (5-inch, 1920 x 1080 pixels), it has become even better - an impressive 441 pixels per inch, give it an ultra-clear picture and in these parameters the S4 is ahead of the iPhone (326 Ppi) and Galaxy S3 (306 Ppi). ). Colors do look more saturated on the Galaxy S4 than on competing smartphones.

Behind is a 2600mAh battery and a microSD card slot that can accommodate an additional 64GB of storage. The battery lasts a solid 7 hours of continuous HD video playback and more than 12 hours of using the phone while browsing the web, downloading various applications and taking photos before it needs to be recharged.

The overall design of the Galaxy S4 did not impress me. The device looks cheap next to such phones as HTCone and iPhone Apple 5, whose aluminum bodies give them a solid and luxurious look. By no means am I saying the phone is ugly, I just wish Samsung would use something other than plastic as the main construction for their smartphones.

    Everything but the kitchen sink

If the phone lost in design, these losses were more than made up for in some features and characteristics. The Russian version comes with an 8-core Exynos 5 processor, this powerful device turns the phone into a power station when running 3D games and other heavy applications. All that processing power comes in really handy when running two apps at the same time, a feature we saw on the 8th inch tablet Note by Samsung.

Another feature borrowed from the Note is Air Preview: when you hover your finger without touching the screen, you can view the contents of a folder, email and messages without opening them. It's pretty nice, but I don't find it functional and convenient, because sometimes opening and closing content is much faster than waiting for a preview.

The Galaxy S4 also supports gesture controls that allow you to scroll through web pages, swipe through photos in the app gallery, and answer phone calls by swiping your hand over the Samsung logo above the screen. This is pretty handy when your hands are wet or dirty and you don't want to touch the screen.

Also, the Galaxy S4 has some exclusive apps such as Optical Reader, S Translator and S Health. Optical Reader is a device that allows you to scan text or QR codes and you can quickly use it to enter information from business cards to your contacts. The application works well, but still made a couple of mistakes.

S Translator is basically Samsung's attempt to copy the functionality of Google Translate: you type or speak your query and Translator gives you a translation in one of 12 languages. For the Russian-speaking population, this application is not interesting, although the application managed to translate some phrases from English into French, nevertheless, compared to Google Translate, the application is clearly inferior, the latter can make these translations more accurate and it has support for the Russian language.

I've come to value my health over the years, which is why S Health is the app I've used more than the others. The S Health app tracked my meters and activity without the need to install additional hardware and software, which is very convenient.

The app also tracks your calorie intake and displays colorful graphs to show you how close you are to your daily minimum. S Health is one of my favorite additions to the Galaxy line and I hope Samsung will continue to serve this program on future phones.

According to marketers at Samsung, the Galaxy S4 has over 100 new features, but that doesn't mean much to me, I see it all as an attempt to stand out from the competition with its uniqueness and quirky features. An application like S Health shows that Samsung can and can do great and high-quality software, but in the future, I would like to see the company put more effort, time and resources still not on half-baked new products like head-tracking (tracking the position of the head).

Dual camera, Drama Shot and more

The main 13-megapixel camera in the Galaxy S4 has an LED flash. Photos taken with the S4 look great, with vibrant colors and minimal digital noise. Indoors shots look surprisingly good, although results may vary depending on location. The phone has a night mode for shooting in low light conditions, but the pictures in this mode turned out to be very grainy.

Camera features include wide range shooting modes, including macro and panorama. One mode allows you to record sound while taking a photo, while the other allows you to remove objects or people from your pictures. I'm not entirely sure why you would want to record audio while taking a photo, but the ability to remove unwanted objects from a photo works very well.

Two modes, Dual Camera and Drama Shot, are particularly interesting. When Dual Camera is activated, the front camera turns on while the main one continues to work, allowing you to “insert” yourself into any photo you take. For sure, this feature will be attractive for families who do not want to leave the shooter without a vacant place in the group photo.

Drama shooting mode takes multiple exposure shots and stitches the pieces together to form one photo. When you take a picture in Drama mode, you can select a photo you like and use it in the final picture by simply tapping on it, although the Galaxy S4 usually does this by itself.

HTC One has a similar mode and uses the Zoe camera for this. However, the feature in the Galaxy S4 takes less time than it takes to dig through the HTC menu.

Unfortunately, all these great features come at a price: although the Galaxy S4 runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, it lacks the Photo Sphere feature (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=0poff-mHQ4Q #!) - one of the most attractive features of all Android 4.2 cameras. It's possible that Samsung will be able to make a photosphere in the future, but I'm disappointed that this option was not available when the phone was released.

    Outcome

When the Galaxy S3 went on sale, it was widely known for being the best android phone of his time. It had the best design, many features and an impressive list of applications and programs, the phone was head and shoulders above its competitors. The same can be said about the Galaxy S4.

Yes, the phone comes with significant upgrades, its specs are nothing short of a mockery of the competition, but the Galaxy S4 does nothing more to differentiate itself from the crowd. The phone is iterative rather than revolutionary, and certain aspects of the smartphone, such as the TouchWiz interface and plastic shell aesthetic, show us that the Galaxy S4 is stuck in 2011.

As one reviewer said mobile devices, “they made this phone so as not to burn out.” And I agree with him. Yes, it's a solid phone and a worthy successor to the Galaxy S3 despite its shortcomings. The Galaxy S4's camera is exceptional, the features and apps deserve attention and people's love. And all its shortcomings, which you seem to be my nitpicking, will not be able to stop people from buying.

I decided to become the owner of a smartphone with an EDGE type form factor (simply - with a curved screen) last year, after the appearance of the flagship Galaxy S7 Edge at the discoverer of Samsung curved screens. However, the price of the novelty (49,990 and 59,990 rubles for the regular and “plus” models) “bited” - I licked my lips, passing by the windows with the coveted phone, but did not dare to lay out an amount exceeding the size of the average Moscow salary. Even the interest-free installments, with which the company actively stimulated sales, did not help me cross the line between the desire to live within my means and the desire to have a fashionable and beautiful gadget.

I became a step closer to my dream when I was offered to test this year's new product: Samsung released another flagship in the Galaxy S line, this time without an alternative with an EDGE screen - outwardly S8 and S8 + differ only in size. I got the usual "eight" with a display of 5.8 inches. Plus model will be in all 6.2.

    Samsung Galaxy S8

    Design and first impressions

The streamlined shape of the device fits comfortably in the hand, the width of the device is exactly such that you can reach the icon on the opposite edge of the screen with your thumb. The body of the gadget, which is elongated compared to most of the “classmates”, is perceived without objection: the fact that holding the device in the palm of my hand, I cannot reach the upper corner of the display does not bother at all - we have long lost the habit of working on modern “shovels” with one hand. In addition, the curved screen comes to the rescue: if desired, you can enable the Edge side screen panel by setting a personal list of functions and applications that are called up with a light touch of a finger.

But on the big “borderless” screen, you can comfortably watch a widescreen movie, see more details in a photo, or read a long text with less scrolling. And in general, the design of a “smartphone without borders” (the slogan of this model) captivates at first sight with some kind of weightlessness, airiness, evoking associations with an infinity pool, where the water surface goes beyond the horizon, into infinity.

iPhone 6S Plus (5.5" screen) and Samsung Galaxy S8 (5.8" screen)

However, as is well known, any advantages are always the reverse side of disadvantages. This turned out to be true for the Samsung G8. The graceful streamlined shape is beautiful, but there is nothing to catch on (literally!), besides, the glossy surface of the back panel is slippery, so there is a danger of dropping the device, which, in fact, happened.

I tried to hold the car keys, a thin clutch and a smartphone in one hand. And my Samsung, unpacked three days ago, slipped out of my hand

The fall was at first glance not that dramatic - vertically angled down. For a device with a conventional "frame" display, this would be quite tolerable - a maximum of a scratch or a small dent on the case (I can judge by my own Honor). But the “limitless” screen is not like that: a chip and three small cracks immediately appeared on the glass, one of which, after a couple of days, “grew” by almost a third of the screen. From here practical advice fans of infinity screens: do not hesitate to pack your gadgets in durable cases-books or slips. Now I understand that the offer of the seller in the salon, when I was looking at the "seven", to immediately buy an additional guarantee for the screen and get a cover and a protective glass - this was not just a promotion for additional options, but quite a prudent recommendation. Another "but" in relation to the screen without side frames - sometimes sensitive touchscreen erroneously reacts to the touch of fingers just holding the smartphone, and launches unnecessary applications or unnecessarily changes the viewing scale. However, over time, you can get used to this feature, and the case put on the device should generally reduce the problem to "no".

    Camera

Shooting photos and videos on a new gadget turns into pure entertainment or a demonstration of the capabilities of a pro - whoever likes what. Lens masters will appreciate the built-in technologies in terms of focusing and stabilization - moving objects are clear even in the dark, for the best composition you can choose the focus length, and the most advanced will turn on the shooting mode "Pro" and adjust shutter speed, exposure and other functions incomprehensible to a mere mortal.

Lazy people like me won't be able to stop taking selfies with funny stickers - they also move! Food bloggers will love the Food shooting mode

Features such as face recognition, shooting mode selection and built-in filters can not even be mentioned: Samsung's flagship has them by default. I will only note that it is extremely convenient to control the camera: you can set up functions, switch between the front and rear cameras, change the zoom with one movement of your finger, and if necessary, the camera will take a picture at your command “Voice!”, That is, sorry, “I’m shooting!”

Galaxy S8 camera has a function to add funny stickers when taking a picture

    Sound and virtual assistants

Perhaps this may seem unimportant to some, but I personally was pleased with the acoustic capabilities of the G8: in the car, wishing to listen to my favorite album and not finding a USB cable to connect to the car audio system within reach, I simply turned on the music on my smartphone. The volume and sound quality were at the level of the built-in speakers in the car!
A unique feature of the novelty is the personal assistant Bixby. As conceived by the manufacturer, it should become an intelligent virtual assistant that adapts to the owner, with voice control and augmented reality functions. It looks like Samsung has only implemented a fraction of the visual functionality of Bixby Vision so far. This is an augmented reality video camera with the ability to recognize images in the frame. The declared search for goods in my case did not work in any way (perhaps this required connected bank cards?); the search for similar photos on the Web, implemented in conjunction with Pinterest, functioned perfectly (however, it’s hard for me to imagine who, other than photo editors, could use such a function); the search for places also proved to be worthy: tired of constantly consulting a guidebook on a trip, we simply pointed the Bixby camera at a building or monument - and the smartphone displayed brief information about the object, as well as about nearby attractions, cafes and restaurants worth visiting.

    Shooting subjects in Bixby Vision

Even when the bag was placed against a white background, Bixby Vision could not find a single Rebecca Minkoff bag for sale in any online store.

But with the help of Pinterest algorithms, Bixby Vision was able to find several similar bags, incl. Prada and Louis Vuitton. But no photo of the original - Rebecca Minkoff - was found

    Health and Activity

Previously, I had no experience communicating with fitness applications, so the pre-installed Samsung Health impressed me with its wide range of possibilities: measure the pulse, oxygen saturation, assess the level of stress and count the number of steps taken with the help of built-in sensors, without using additional gadgets like a fitness bracelet. In addition, the application has the ability to record the duration of sleep, various kinds physical activity, the amount and calorie content of food, blood sugar levels - however, all this will have to be done independently, in manual mode. But on the basis of all the data received, the application formulates personal recommendations and regularly reminds you of the need to move, not forgetting to give out a “candy” - marks your personal records and gives virtual rewards-medals.

    Built-in applications and security systems

As an editor, I was pleased with the built-in Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive) - quite often I have to open and edit documents right on the go, I immediately download the office suite to all smartphones, but here I didn’t have to, and the built-in applications The default ones work better than the self-installed ones.
Separate praise for the G8 is for its incredible security capabilities. The information on your S8 will be protected by a triple security loop. Firstly, the standard PIN code, password or graphic pattern has not gone anywhere, and secondly and thirdly, a fingerprint scanner, face recognition and iris recognition have been added to them. I saw reviews on the Web about the unfortunate location of the fingerprint scanner - next to the lens of the rear camera, but I never had problems with the supposedly “smeared” camera glass, all the pictures always came out clear, despite the fact that I used the fingerprint scanner very actively ( unlocking with it always went smoothly).

Face recognition worked intermittently: obviously, it all depends on the lighting conditions in which you take a control shot and then scan the face

Therefore, sometimes I amused my friends by freezing with a frozen expression and a gadget brought to my nose. But I failed to test unlocking the smartphone by scanning the iris. The fact is that the manufacturer immediately warns that the presence of glasses or contact lenses makes it difficult to scan the iris, and I have severe myopia. Attempts to scan the iris without glasses and lenses did not lead to success in my case - the gadget could not capture my biometric data. To the S8's credit, I must say that the control recording of the iris and subsequent unlocking in a person who does not suffer from myopia went off with a bang.

    Performance

Having received an assignment from the column editor to test the gadget in the AnTuTu rating application, I received an unexpected and impressive result. Overall score(the number of points obtained when measuring the performance of a smartphone) was in the ranking in 2nd place - higher than the "typical" Galaxy S8 included in the ranking (see photo). Samsung's flagship has outdone itself!

Samsung Galaxy S8 results in AnTuTu Benchmarking System

    Battery and Charging

For such a multifunctional and productive gadget, an important issue is food. In a state of relative rest - without many hours of watching movies and graphically charged games, but with constant web surfing, photo experiments and running several applications at the same time - the battery holds a charge for at least two days. A worthy result among "classmates".

Fast wired charging turned out to be fantastically fast: she promised to charge the gadget with a 28% charge level in 1 hour and 16 minutes and kept her promise

Slot for a second SIM card

Today, few people have just one mobile number - either failures of mobile operators, or new tempting Internet tariffs force users to buy a second, or even a third SIM card. I also tried to double my mobile capabilities, but I couldn’t insert two SIM cards into my smartphone at the same time even with the help of a consultant in a communication salon: the second slot, declared as a hybrid one for an SD or SIM card, no matter how hard we tried, could not accommodate SIM card nano-format. In the end, the consultant, rummaging through the Internet, said that this modification does not provide for the installation of a second SIM card - only a memory card. I had to take my word for it.

Should you buy a Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone?

And, finally, the price is an important criterion for evaluating any new products. It is traditional for Samsung flagships - RUB 59,990 S7 Edge was also worth it when it first entered our market. However, after a few months, the price of the flagship has decreased, and there are very interesting offers in the salons. But if you are unpretentious, like Oscar Wilde, and you "enough of the best", then perhaps the novelty is worth the money.

When will the Samsung S8 drop in price? Was the Galaxy S8 worth buying?

Now that Samsung has shown off its latest smartphone to the public, it's promising a more advanced camera, a more powerful and efficient processor... and (depending on where you buy it) a hefty price tag. And although the price of S9 in the US is slightly lower than the original cost of S8, in Russia the price can reach almost 57,990 rubles for new phone, and the cost of S9 + will be more than 74,990 rubles.

But you don't have to spend a huge amount of money. Just to get a quality flagship smartphone. You can find quite a powerful model on the market right now, and in the coming weeks it is expected a sharp decline its value.

We are talking about the Galaxy S8 - a model that the expected S9 promises to throw off the line.

Buying last year's smartphone may seem counterproductive, as the S9 promises improved specs, especially for the device's camera. But the S8 deserves credit on its own, as it topped our smartphone rankings for most of 2017. And very soon it will be possible to buy it at a much lower price than a few weeks ago - at a number of stores the price is already decreasing.

Let's take a closer look at what you still get by choosing the S8 over the newer S9, and what you'll most likely have to sacrifice for the low price.

No one can say for sure how much the Samsung S8 will drop in price with the start of S9 pre-orders on March 2nd. But judging by past price changes of earlier models, the S8 could drop in price very quickly. As a rule, smartphone prices fall by 15-20 percent in 12 months.

That's exactly what happened a year ago with the release of the Galaxy S8: The S7 was suddenly no longer a hot commodity, according to Lindsey Sacrida, director of content marketing service DealNwes.

Here's how the Samsung S8 fell in price (Price dynamics)

“Last year when the S8 was announced, we found offers to purchase an unboxed 32G S7 for prices starting at $31,000 – $29,990 less than the original price,” Sakraida said shortly before the S9 was released. “We also noticed the 128GB model for 39,990 rubles. So before the introduction of the S8, only unlocked S7s saw price cuts in stores.”

The situation changed with the release of S8 in April 2017. According to Sakraida, by that time, the monthly fee for S7s bought in installments began to decline. The S7 model, which had a starting price of 47,990 rubles, fell in price to about 37,990 rubles in the months leading up to the release of the S8, according to DealNews. IN given time The S7 can be found on Amazon for 27,000 rubles ($449).

How much and when will the Samsung S8 fall in price? You can find out by comparing it with the Galaxy S7.

When did the Samsung Galaxy S7 fall in price?

Price tracking site CamelCamelCamel confirms this by showing that Galaxy S7 prices from third-party sellers dropped significantly (see image below) in the spring of 2017 when the S8 hit the market. The same thing happened with the prices of older models such as the Galaxy S6.

In general, smartphone prices are declining by 15-20 percent per year, says Christina Gallup. But will the Samsung S8 get cheaper as well as the S7?

The price drop for the S7 with the introduction of the S8 could be an exception, Sakraida warns. "S7 was a good smartphone, but for many buyers its reputation has been tarnished by the Note 7 fiasco, so it is possible that the S7 price cut was more aggressive than the expected similar effect for the S8 after the S9 was shown,” she added.

Here's how the Samsung S7 fell in price (Price dynamics)

But it still makes sense to look at prices for unlocked S8s after the announcement of the S9. According to Sakraida, price cuts from distributors can be expected as soon as the S9 starts shipping.

At the time of this writing, both Samsung and the major wireless carriers are still charging over $46,990 for the Galaxy S8, although that will likely change with the S9's release. But on retail sites, everything is not so: there you can find an unlocked S8 for less than 39,990 rubles.

So, if you choose the Galaxy S8 over the new S9, you'll be saving money - the current price difference is $15,000 and the gap is expected to widen. What options will you have to sacrifice for a lower cost?

The S9 offers the most improvement in photography. New model stands out with a 12-megapixel camera with adjustable aperture: in low light, the aperture expands to f / 1.5; it can also be narrowed down to f/2.4 to capture more detail in wide-angle shots. The S9 still has a single rear camera like the S8 and S8+, and dual lenses can be found on the larger (and more expensive) Galaxy S9+.

    S9 left and S8 right

We had time to take some test shots with the S9. We're still doing a detailed comparison with the results of other phones, but these frames can already be judged on the performance of the improved S9 camera. In general, we noticed improved results in low light levels, although color reproduction is not quite accurate in some cases.

“I definitely think people should consider buying the S8 when the S9 goes on sale, especially since stores will be offering bargains at a low price.” – Christina Gallup, WhistleOut.

So what should you buy, Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S9?

Should you ignore the latest flagship smartphone in favor of last year's model? Much depends on what options you are interested in. If you use your smartphone to take a lot of photos, then the improvements in the Galaxy S9 may justify the increased cost.

Also consider how long you plan to use your next phone. While the S8 has been able to handle most apps so far, 24 months later that may not be the case anymore as updates are coming soon. android versions and application developers will begin to offer more processor-demanding programs.

Still, based on the specs and features of Samsung's new smartphone, the S9 isn't all that different from last year's model. If you can do without some of the bells and whistles in the Galaxy S9, then the current Galaxy S8 should be enough to satisfy your desires - especially given the approaching price drop.

The choice is yours, but the Samsung S8 is pretty cheap compared to last year.
